Poetic Expression Challenges
July Challenges
The first challenge assignment for July was a "Christmas in July" theme where we each had to write a jingle advertising a product but composed to the tune of "Jingle Bells". lol The results were rather amusing. Here are my two attempts. One for my dog, and one for me! lol
Pedigree, Pedigree,
tucker for your pooch
Tender and it's flavoursome
with veges in it too!

(should I even put my name to this??? lol)
Now this next one is more like it!!
Guylian, Guylian,
chocolate sweet to taste
Silky smooth the Belgian treat
still goes straight to my waist.

The second mini-assignment challenge was a list of ten summery themed words which were then included in a poem. The challenge words are highlighted and in italics
~ Simplicity ~
The jeweled wings of the butterfly
floating on the breeze
Glisten in the morning sun
and flutter by with ease....
A warm and fuzzy feeling of
the sand between my toes
As laughter fills the memories of
that which I've come to know....
Cotton candy, pink delight,
a sweet fragrant bouquet,
A glistening beauty shimmering
in soft gentle array....
Such sweetness in those memories
I hold close to my heart
For it's that sheer simplicity
from which we should never part.

The third mini assignment given to us this month was to write Haiku. Like the Tanka challenge in WOSIB, Haiku is based on syllables though it just a three line poem using the 5-7-5 syllable writing form. Quite a challenge! I've never attempted Haiku before and was never really familiar with it, but I gave it a go. These are my attempts.
