Poetic Expression Challenges

May Challenges

This first challenge featured some very boring sentences that we rephrased into something more interesting.   And if we could do this inot mini-poems, even better!

1. The bird flew past the window.
dainty flutter of the wings
crossed the window as she sings.

2. The baby smiled at me.
Rosy cheeks and baby blues
beamed with joy at me too.

3. I felt sad when I heard the news.
Despondency filled me when
news of you reached me again.

4. The dog ran down the hill.
The Staffy charged in front of me
down the descent excitedly.

This next challenge listed ten words we had to use to write a poem.   The ten featured words are highlighted and in italics.   This was my piece.

~ In Search of the Unsearchable ~

The trembling hands of time that move
the path of history
A quest that seems unsearchable
a secret kept from me.

A myriad of heartaches
with thoughts I cannot win
The mysteries that abound the soul
inflicting me with sins.

A pot of gold was meant to be
although I don't know why
At the end of my rainbow
into eternal life.

And yet it remains verdantly
hidden deep within
Until we cross the portal where
our homage does begin.

Feeling rather adventureous I penned another one from these list of words.

~ Where Love Grows ~

Gentle homage to the sun
hidden verdantly
A secret garden in the midst
of what we cannot see.

As petals cascade lazily
a rose is trembling
Beneath the silent echoes of
eternal life within.

Yet time is but a stranger here
unsearchable it seems
When every essence out of reach
is far beyond our dreams.

And like the fragrance that abounds
the petals of a rose
To win within the garden is
to let love truly grow.

On rather a roll, I turned out this one tonight from my heart about this woman who wants my husband and says that he is the one true love of her life; a secret she thinks she keeps from me.

~ Secret ~

Carrying a secret
she thinks that I don't know
Which time has never healed
and yet she won't let go;

With no understanding
for our happiness
Her only homage that abounds
is one of selfishness.

She left my life shattered
not once but twice in pain
And still the thought is trembling through,
could she do it again?

Like wildfire creeping
she yearns verdantly
Claiming her eternal love
though he belongs to me.

Searching the unsearchable
if she looked deep within
She'd see his love for me is real
and was never hers to win.
