Poetic Expression Challenges
March Challenges
Our first mini assignment was to write a jingle advertising Poetic Expressions to the rest of GOF.
Come on over to PE
And join us for some fun you'll see
Where we express our thoughts in part
Poetic writings from the heart
Finding new and simple ways
To challenge us through word play,
So come and join in all the fun
And you'll see why we're Number One!

Our next assignment was to take part in an Add-A-Line, where each member adds a line (just one) to the poem we are creating. This one was about our love/hate relationships with computers.
I love my old computer, yet sometimes I almost hate it,
It gives me lots of trouble, yet as my best friend I'd rate it.
(Grandma Lyn)
The best of the best, even when it causes trouble, (Black Rose)
And there's times I just sit here in one great big muddle. (Tootypup)
Reformat and Reboot, I loathe these two terms, (Angel Kat)
But the viruses aren't caused by any type of germ. (Bridgett)
Then comes Trojans and worms, they give me the shivers (Cheri)
My screen goes blank...what is happening...I quiver. (Tdybear4ever)
Disk space and defrag's seem to haunt me each day (Windstorm)
I wonder if Ad-ware and spyware could take it all away (Annsea146)
I really wish it would behave, just this one time please (Christina)
When I'm about to save it always freezes just to tease! (laura)
But the games I have are so fun to play (Holly)
So on this puter I stay until I'm old and gray (LadyCrystal)
And if I got only 6 minutes to live (Rachelle)
Computer Time is what I would give !! (Lady Deb)
So no matter how much we hate these things
A total love it what our computers bring !
Our second mini assignment was to write a poem using all ten challenge words.
~ Breathless ~
The spellbound whispers of the night
reflecting in the glow
Of sunset and its fading warmth
a splendid overflow.
An archway painted in the sky
of bright and vivid hues
As shadows crept into its midst,
a solemn interlude.
Tendrils floating on a breath
in glistening ivory
A blanket all-encompassing
reflecting back at me.
Majestic by God's own design
a gift to richly bless
The heart that paints its soul within
such beauty is breathless.

This 3rd mini assignment is a Learn-A-Word exercise. This month's word is POIGNANT.
Poignant (pronounced poin-yent): deeply affecting the feelings, touching, moving
~ Poignant Memories ~
To capture but a memory
embossed within the heart
Of times forever moving
that make us who we are.
For beauty seen within the eye
beholds not just a face,
But years of faded memories
so poignant in its place.
Tears upon the weary lines
that laughter does recall
A picture painted memory
that lives forevermore.
Yes, though the years they separate
the moments in between,
It's poignant memories like the ones
that make up you and me.
